Leap Year is a yearlong community service gap year program that helps low income first generation students get into and succeed in college. There is no fee for student participation; in fact, students will receive a small stipend to help support themselves and contribute to the costs of the program during the year. If accepted, students will meet with us Monday through Friday for the next year working on college and career readiness through:
- Academic tutoring
- ACT prep
- Confidence building
- Socio-emotional learning
- Career mentorship
- College application assistance
- Community service
We are looking for some amazing graduating high school seniors to join our 2017 Leap Year cohort! In selecting students for our program we rely heavily on nominations from teachers, counselors, and nonprofit staff who have a personal relationship with the student and can speak to their strengths and weaknesses. We evaluate each applicant based on three key criteria: academic promise, commitment to community service, and fortitude.
